WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
Morning Workshop:
- Identify: In this session, we'll explore sensations in the body to decode their messages. By tuning into the body intentionally, we uncover emotions and memories, fostering self-awareness and facilitating emotional release.
Afternoon Workshop:
- Transform: Each joy, sadness, fear, or excitement leaves a mark, shaping a physical map of our emotional journey. Through practice and demonstration, we'll explore basic orienting and grounding techniques to nurture the emotional self, regulate the nervous system, and instill greater awareness throughout the body.
ABOUT YOUR HOST:
Erin is a teacher and student of movement and meditation. Her style is thoughtful and intentional, weaving asana with elements of dance and a deep connection to the breath. She is passionate about bringing healing arts-integrated programs to schools, arts intensives, detention centers, and to those in recovery.

WHAT IS SOMATIC YOGA?
Somatic yoga is a style of yoga that focuses on integrating the mind and body through mindful movement and awareness of bodily sensations. Unlike traditional yoga practices that often emphasize achieving specific poses or postures, somatic yoga places greater emphasis on internal experiences, such as sensations, feelings, and breath awareness.
In somatic yoga, practitioners are encouraged to move slowly and deliberately, paying close attention to how each movement feels in their body. This heightened awareness can help individuals release tension, improve flexibility, and develop a deeper connection to themselves.
Somatic yoga often incorporates principles from somatic psychology, which emphasizes the mind-body connection and the role of sensory awareness in healing and self-regulation. By practicing somatic yoga, individuals can cultivate greater mindfulness, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.
